3 October 2008 Following on from the previous tutorial on diamond crossings, Russell Beer's shared his route-building skills by demonstrating how to build two useful items of trackage - a double crossover and a scissors cross over, both being used in his latest route constructions. I've supplied some images and you can read how to place these items at Creating a Double Crossover and a Scissors Crossover with Xtracks. 1 October 2008 I was trying to develop an activity which involved a train crossing over in front of another - with disastrous results. This started me investigating the cause and I found a post by Vince Cockeram (the skilled route builder responsible for the NECv4 route) which explained the solution to the problem I was having. I've turned his post into an illustrated tutorial and you can read it here - Making Signals Work on Diamond Crossings. 18 September 2008 Fossicking around on one of my back-up data CDs, I came across a couple of message threads I'd saved from way back when, one written by the enigmatic Jim Stevens (who knew lots about MSTS in 2001 - MSTS developer? - but disappeared off the scene to work on Windows XP - our loss) and the irrepressible Jim "Sniper" Ward. 17 September 2008 One of Australia's MSTS pioneers was Chris Jennings - very early on in the MSTS era (2001-2002) he was a model creator and route builder. He posted some tutorials on his own web site, but they vanished in the mists of time. We've located and resurrected his tutorial on Tunnel Creation and it's now resident on this site.16 September 2008 I've noticed that there is an influx of new MSTS users, resulting in an increase in questions about error messages. Many of these are well known and have been documented for many years on the Hints and Tips page as well as scattered about on the various MSTS fora.17 April 2008 There's been a few tutorials posted over the last couple of months that might be of interest: one on unsticking frozen points, one on passenger views and a work-in-progress on the ichk file produced by TsUtils. Scroll down through the list and look for the rotating NEW icon to see what's new in the past four months.02 November 2007 Jim Ward's been at it again - when you have errors in Activities, it pays to understand the files involved in an activity. Jim explains the various files and their inter-relationships. Read Activities, Consists - what goes where and who's dependent on whom. 02 September 2007 Richard Osborne has followed up on his :"Animating Valve Gear" tutorial with a tutorial specifically aimed at builders of locomotives using Walschaerts' gear. Suitable for both GMAX and TSM users. Browse to Richard's tutorial here: Animating Walschaerts' Valve Gear. 31 July 2007
