MSTS v1.2/1.4 Web Updates

These installers contain the web files that updated MSTS v1.0 to v1.2/1.4. This enabled the early purchasers of MSTS to upgrade their game to the last released version of MSTS.

The v1.2/1.4 designation results from two separate version numbers: MSTS advertised MSTS as v1.2, but when you perform a File | Properties on the train.exe (NOT launcher.exe), you find that its internal version is 1.4.

The key piece of information is that the train.exe file is dated December 2001.

There was only ever one update of MSTS - the Atari, Ubisoft and Xplosiv distributions of MSTS (whether in Amaray style DVD cases or 2-CD-style jewel cases (jc)) are all the updated MSTS v1.4 that require you to have the CD in the drive to operate MSTS. Running the update below ensures that you don't need to have a CD in the drive when running MSTS.

There has been some confusion over a variety of "update" downloads available. The Train_Update1 exe file linked below contains BOTH the train update AND the tools update in the one package: the updates were also released separately but are otherwise the same - the date-stamps match exactly. This train_update version installs the correct EXE file that is required by MSTS-Bin.

MSTS v1.2 Train Simulator Update
Install this update to obviate the need to have a CD present in the drive when starting MSTS.

Addresses the following issues present in v1.0:

  1. Video Card Issues (modified mprofiler.exe)
  2. Marias Pass Refueling (modified dash9 and GP38 ENGine file)

  4. Winter Textures (textures missing from Routes\Japan1\Textures\Night: JP1HadanoAlph.ace and JP1KaiseAlpha.ace)
  5. Night Textures (texture missing from Routes\Japan2\Textures\Snow: US2FuelStation.ace)
  6. Orient-Express Gölsdorf 380 Refueling (missing coal texture and modified tender WAGon file)
