My Photo

of the month
As I build timetables on this site, I needed to make it easier to find any given timetable you need, especially when they're not specifically steam-oriented.   Thes times are not intended to be a comprehensive timetable for Victoria:  my intention is to list all proposed and actual steam tours happening in Victoria, together with their appropriate timetables.

GM cabs or "Bulldogs" are my other great love and I will try to collect timetables and rosters for whatever regular "Bulldog" rosters are in use.   I am happy to post any regular "Bulldog" hauled train here for everyone's benefit.  Email me if there's a regular rostered "Bulldog" train you'd like timetabled

    Steam List

My steam list. This page is set up to provide a "one stop shop" of what mainline steam we can expect to see running in Victoria every year.

    R2s' regular run
    Warrnambool
    and
    Echuca

West Coast Railway's R2 class steam express locomotives lead a return service to Warrnambool every Saturday from April to December.  There is also a once-a-month excursion to Echuca on the last Sunday of each month.  Click on the destinations for the full timetables.

    A-class on
    Passenger Trains

V/Line Pass have four A class GM cab locomotives that still serve faithfully Monday - Friday.  Timetables for the routes these venerable warhorses still ply are here.
    A- and S-class on
    Freight Trains
Freight Australia have seven A class locos and four S class locos in service.  The S class are used as trailing locos and wander all over the state, but the As seem to frequent the Tocumwal, Warrnambool and Traralgon lines

    WCR's Passenger
    Timetables

WCR run S300, S302, S311, B61 and B76 on their regular Warrnambool - Melbourne service.  Working timetables are posted here (you can get their "public" timetable from their website at http://ww.wcr.com.au).
    WCR's
    Transfer Path
WCR frequently transfers locos and rollingstock between Ballarat and Melbourne: this is their most commonly used path.  The up trains often run early!

    Patricks'
    Train

The Patricks' train usually has two or more GM cabs (CLF or CLP)  on the point in Victoria, and up to six locos over the Mount Lofty Ranges in South Australia.  It's also a train that transfers interesting locos from SA to Vic and beyond (ELs for example).

    FA Quarry
    Train

FA's quarry train runs from Brooklyn to Kilmore East to Westall and back Sunday - Friday.  Used to have G543 (FA's first green and gold loco) as the rostered loco, but G543 is now on Standard Gauge and working in NSW on grain trains.
