The photos
in the galleries above are mostly derived from 35mm slides or negatives,
scanned by an HP PhotoSmart Photo scanner or more recently a Nikon LS-2000
scanner, using Vuescan 7.1+. Compupic
Pro 5.3 is used to add the description, photographer and copyright
details, apply an unsharp mask filter, and resize to a 640x480 pixel 80%
progressive JPG, with an end size of 100k. The thumbnails are 100x50
pixel 50% quality JPGs and typically only 2k long.
I can
also clip images from my mini DV footage into a 640x480 pixel sized image.
I'll label these as I post them.
For more
information on scanners and scanning, visit my links
page.
Enjoy.
Feedback
welcomed to me at steam4me@dingoblue.net.au
And now, a small "paid political
announcement" <g!>
It's always nice to be able
to combine one's hobbies (in my case photography/videography and trains).
It is even more satisfying when you can share your hobbies with others.
Many of my slides and photos taken over the years spend their entire lives
in little yellow and green boxes. As I got more into video and shot
less film, I started storing video cassettes in plastic boxes as well.
Over the last few years, my
video output can be shared and enjoyed by everyone as I am one of the principal
videographers for Steam Media Productions. Together with good friend
Tony Marsden, we follow and record as many special and charter steam events
as possible, producing an "almanac" of the previous year's steam events.
Judging by the feedback, many people are enjoying our work and it gives
me an immense sense of satisfaction to be able to share my work.
The videos are available from
the Railfan Shop, ABC shops and many hobby shops Australia wide.
For more information on our tapes, send an email to Tony
Marsden or myself,
write to Steam Media Productions, PO Box 707, WHEELERS HILL VIC 3150 or
visit our web site at http://www.railpage.org.au/smedia.
