Kuju Rail Simulator - Copying a Route

Introduction

How do you copy a route so that you can fiddle with it and still have the original in pristine form? Mini-route installations as in MSTS don't exist (yet?)

The simplest way to create a copy of an exisitng route is to create a new route, then copy the contents of the original route into the newly created route folder.

The Details

The default routes are numbered 1-4 and are:

01 - Oxford to Paddington
02 - Bath Green Park to Templecombe
03 - Newcastle to York
04- Hagen to Seigen

Any route you create is assigned a (seemingly) random series of numbers: as in the screenshot below, you can see we've added the Port Ogden & Northhern Route (1cd1327f-d722-4365-95b5-eabadc581380):

The simplest way to create a copy of an exisitng route is to create a new route, then copy the contents of the original route into the newly created route folder.

Open Rail Simulator. At the Main Window (Home), Select Routes, then click on "New Route":

Choose a template, doesn't matter which one, and click Create:

Give your new copy a name - in this case I've chosen (unimaginatively) "My Tutorial Route"; then click on "create":

A blank terrain appears. Click on the "Play" button (arrowed):

Click on the "Quit" icon (arrowed).

Confirm by clicking on "Yes".

Now quit Rail Simulator. When you look at your Routes folder, you can see that you've now got a new folder labelled with a diifferent set of numbers (in this case da684d85-1a15-4176-8b7e-e06911e6bd00) and only 1.66K in size. It contains only one file, "scenarios.bin".

Now move up to the original route folder and select and copy the folder's contents:

Move to the new folder and Ctrl-V (paste).

Now restart Rail Simulator, click "Routes" and there's your copy in the list of routes.
